This course will cover:

  • Introduction to the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).
  • Definitions, including Hazmat Employer and Hazmat Employee.
  • Review of the Hazardous Materials Table (HMT).
  • Overview of Shipping Papers.
  • Introduction to Marking & Labeling.
  • Overview of Placarding & Packaging.
  • Discussion of Carrier Requirements on Public Highways.

  • Define the term “hazardous materials.”
  • Summarize who must comply with the HMR.
  • Describe how to look up materials in the HMT and the Appendices.
  • Identify the information that must be included on shipping papers for hazardous materials.
  • Recall the requirements for marking and labeling hazardous materials packages.
  • Identify the general requirements for placarding.
  • Define “packaging” and identify packaging examples.
  • List the requirements affecting the transportation of hazardous materials on public highways.
